The Swedish acoustic panel brand BAUX invited eight architecture students to envision the future of well-being at their exhibition during the Stockholm Furniture Fair and Clerkenwell Design Week 2023.
“Well Arena” is a swimming facility designed for both competitions and training. Its circular architecture naturally draws attention to the swimmers in the center. BAUX cladding seamlessly connects the roof to the pool level, creating a cohesive atmosphere throughout the space. The timber gridshell roof stands out, contrasting with the blue panels mounted behind it. A 300-meter-long pool is integrated into the curved outer walls, providing a warm-up area that evokes the feeling of swimming in open water. Similar to a well, rainwater is collected from the roof, filtered through glazed walls, and allows visitors to experience outdoor weather conditions and the water purification process.
Swimming halls are notoriously challenging due to their acoustics and humidity. BAUX products, along with the exposed timber construction, effectively regulate these elements, creating a more comfortable environment for both swimmers and spectators.
